Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage Morden in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Morden is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly, and to preventing any form of modern slavery in relation to our services, premises, or procurement activities.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Morden has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We do not accept, condone, or support any practice that exploits individuals or deprives them of their freedom or fundamental rights for personal or commercial gain. This commitment applies to all people working directly for Storage Morden, and to all third parties who supply goods or services to us.
All colleagues, managers, directors, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this zero-tolerance stance. Any breach or suspected breach is considered a serious matter that may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, or reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Morden provides storage and related services to customers. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers, including facilities management, maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, technology, and professional services. We recognise that modern slavery risks can arise at different tiers of a supply chain, especially where services are labour intensive or sourced internationally.
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and who can demonstrate compliance with applicable laws addressing modern slavery, labour rights, and safe working conditions.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
To identify, assess, and address potential risks of modern slavery in our supply chains, Storage Morden undertakes proportionate due diligence on current and prospective key suppliers. This may include reviewing information on their policies, working practices, and their own supply chains, as well as obtaining written confirmations of compliance with modern slavery legislation.
Where we assess that the risk profile is higher, we may conduct additional checks. These may include requesting evidence of workforce protections, training records, or audits carried out by the supplier or independent third parties. We reserve the right to conduct or commission audits of selected suppliers to verify that they are operating in a manner consistent with our zero-tolerance policy.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and a clear timeframe for improvement. If meaningful progress is not achieved, we will consider the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Morden encourages anyone who becomes aware of possible instances of modern slavery connected to our business or supply chains to raise concerns at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management, or through the internal whistleblowing channels made available to colleagues and certain contractors.
We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith are protected and will not suffer any detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up. All reports are taken seriously and are reviewed promptly. Where necessary, we will investigate, take appropriate remedial steps, and inform external authorities as required.
Training and Awareness
Storage Morden is working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks within relevant teams. Our aim is to ensure that staff engaged in procurement, facilities management, and supplier management can recognise potential warning signs and understand how to escalate concerns appropriately.
Where appropriate, guidance and resources are provided to support colleagues in understanding their responsibilities under this statement and under applicable legislation.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Storage Morden is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to identifying and mitigating modern slavery risks. We review our policies, processes, and supplier risk assessments regularly to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the nature and scale of our activities.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed annually by senior management. The review will consider developments in legislation, industry good practice, and the effectiveness of our actions over the preceding year. Where necessary, we will update this statement and our internal procedures to strengthen our safeguards.
Approval
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Storage Morden, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation and ongoing review.
